Free .nl and .nu domain transfers with registry date retention

At Oxxa it is possible to transfer .nl or .nu domain names for free.
This concerns only .nl and .nu, other TLDs cannot use this function.
The option to move domain names for free can be activated by you and is turned off by default.
You can find the option by logging into my.oxxa.com
On the left side of the menu, click on: My account --> Settings --> Move.
Set the checkbox at the bottom to Yes and click the green save button below it.

We will then take over the end date from the registry for new transfers from then on.
The registry is the party that actually registers the .nl domains. (For .nl this is SIDN).
Note: this is the date of the registry, not the date of the previous registrar/hosting party!

It can happen that the other registrar (hosting party) pays per month, quarter or half year for the domain name, so the date of the other registrar (hosting party) does not match the date we get back from the registry.

Furthermore, it sometimes happens that hosting providers have their own date.
This while in the past you have received an invoice for 1 year and the registrar has a different end date. In some cases it is therefore more advantageous to let the renewal take place at the current party for a while, and then move it afterwards.

Once you enter the transfer code, we can retrieve the transfer code and you can see the domain name's end date in your shopping cart.

Example 1:
A nl domain name is registered on 01-06-2019 and is now with another party.
The registrar pays the domain name at the registry per month.
Your domain name is renewed for 1 month on 01-07-2019.
You then move the domain name away on 16-07-2019.
The renewal date will then be 01-08-2019 with us.
So you will be able to renew the domain name with us again on 01-08-2019 for 1 year.

The transfer to us in the example is free,. only the renewal at SIDN is already fast, because the other registrar pays per month the advantage here is not very big. In some cases the end date of the domain name is so close that we have to renew it immediately.


Example 2:
A nl domain name is registered on 01-06-2019 and is now with another party.
The registrar pays the domain name at the registry per year.
You then move the domain name away on 16-07-2019.
The renewal date will then be 16-07-2020 with us.
You will be able to renew the domain name on 16-07-2020?with us again for 1 year.
